The 21st Announcement Regarding the Open Letter on Liu Juhua’s Plagiarism Case
March 15, 2014
Today, March 15, 2014, is the second anniversary of the Open Letter to the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Regarding the Alleged Plagiarism Case of Its Graduate Ms. Liu Juhua
. It is a special day worthy of commemoration, because it was two years ago when Chinese scholars around the globe stood up together and declared war on academic fraud.
It is common knowledge that an academic institution has its responsibility and obligation to prosecute academic degree fraud seriously. The Liu Juhua case, arguably the most noxious academic scandal in recent years in China, falls under the jurisdiction of GSCASS, therefore, the school has no excuses whatsoever for not handling the case properly. Needless to say, the inaction of GSCASS on the case in the past two years has severely damaged the reputation of the school, and the detrimental effect will continue and compound as long as the case is not acted upon. Historically, GSCASS, the so called “training base of the reserve talents for the stronghold of Marxism, the highest academic hall of philosophy and social sciences in China, and the think tank of the CCP Central Committee and the State Council of China,
” will forever be known worldwide for its tolerance and connivance of academic fraud and misconduct.
